Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a very fashionable and trendy place. I love to shop, and Seoul has only fueled my bad habit of buying far too many clothes (that I will have to eventually ship home.)
If you are looking for some Korean fashion, here’s your guide on where to go!
Shopping in Seoul♥
Dongdaemun is a famous shopping area with large, multiple level shopping malls filled with cheap clothes, souvenirs, and furniture. You know all of those small little retails shops and stalls found on the streets? They are all buying their merchandise wholesale from here. If you explore the DDP, you can find the Design Lab, which is filled with handmade art and handicrafts from local artists.
How to get there: Dongdaemun Station (Line 4, Exits 8 or 9)
Express Bus Terminal
The Seoul Express Bus Terminal is my personal favorite place to shop, as it is only a stop away from the closest subway station to me. Express Bus is a long strip of stores that are located underground inside the station. It is very crowded here, so come prepared for a lot of jostling for space. The main things to buy here are cheap, fashionable clothes and accessories.

Hongdae is an area that is home to Hongik University, and it’s quite the college hub. There is tons of street stall shopping and also a giant Forever 21 and a H&M. The street stalls include fun accessories for phones, clothing, books shops, and lots of funky jewelry.
How to get there: Hongdae University Station (Line 2, Exit 9)
There are plenty of streets lining Sinsa, but Garosu-gil in Sinsa-dong is well-known to locals and tourists alike. There are plenty of cafes, bars, and trendy boutiques. Sinsa is an extremely chic place to shop, and is filled with modern and well-dressed Koreans. Since most of the stuff here is new and very trendy, it can be a bit expensive to shop here. However, there are a few independent boutiques that offer reasonable prices.
How to get there: Sinsa Station (Line 3, Exit 8)
Myeongdong is perhaps the most well-known area to shop in Seoul. Myeongdong is quite popular and is one of the best places in Seoul to shop for anything beauty or cosmetic related. Beauty stores like Etude House, Innis Free, and Nature Republic line the streets, and many offer free samples.
