Better Life Vietnam
Since I’ve arrived in Hanoi, I’ve been working for a nonprofit called Better Life Vietnam . BLV works to improve education conditions for underprivileged children in rural Vietnam.
BLV has three main initiatives- their scholarship program (which we have already been able to sucessfully give away five scholarships in my time here), their Tours For Books social enterprise, and their BLV Books Library.
BLV creates classroom libraries that students can use at school or at home. So far, the team has provided books for nearly 500,000 children in rural areas.
I am hosting this fundraiser in hopes that our combined efforts can raise enough money to supply two primary and secondary schools with libraries. We will supply children in the Ly Son Village with enough books for over 500 students each.
The Importance of Education
I’ve been working as an ESL teacher abroad for the past three years, and I know how much education can change lives.
It’s so important that we give back.
Reading and knowledge of the world opens up pathways and imaginations, and although it’s a small step- I hope that this will be one that inspires our leaders of the future to be kinder, more compassionate, and more informed human beings. I believe that everyone deserves the right to pursue their dreams and further their educations, and it’s such a privilege to be working for a non-profit that shares the same goals.
What You Can Do
When we raise enough money for the book giveaway, I will be sharing all the information through social media channels. All the proceeds go directly towards helping the schools. You will be able to see first-hand the difference you can make in the lives of these children!
If you are able to donate, please visit the fundraising page. Any little bit helps, and will make a huge different in the lives of these children.
