Hello, and welcome to wayfarerkate! My name is Kaitlyn Knoll and I’m a 26 year-old who has a passion for backpacking solo. I created this site as a way to share my own crazy adventures and inspire other travelers to pursue their passions. I love when like-minded people learn to embrace their restless spirits and wandering feet.
Why & How I Started Wayfarerkate
At 19, I took my first solo backpacking trip through Southeast Asia. After that incredible four months, I knew that the wanderlust bug had taken root, but I didn’t quite have the courage to pack up everything. At age 22, I decided I wasn’t quite ready to enter the life of cubicles and computers. I packed my backpack, left my cute little apartment and closet full of clothes, and have not looked back since.
My travels led me to accept a teaching position in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This helped me realize that there are opportunities everywhere if you are willing to accept them. Since then, I’ve become and ESL teacher in Seoul and am currently teaching in Hanoi, Vietnam.
I started Wayfarerkate as a way to inspire other travelers and help people see that so much is waiting for you if you just have the courage to have a little faith and believe in yourself. Sometimes, plunging into the unknown can lead to miraculous things.
“Leap and the net will appear.”
I am constantly dreaming about and researching new ways to get out into the world and experience more out of life. Travel is my greatest passion & my bucket list is long and ever-growing.
